franked cover from Harrar to Dire Daoua. The original seven stamps
were re-authorized for use during a stamp shortage that occurred in
1908.
Early Registered Mail: Guerche total franking = 2G registration
+ 2G first 20 grams + 15.5G additional weight. Probably philatelically
franked. Registration became available in February 1908. Ethiopian
stamps were only valid internally and to Djibouti during this time.
Early Registered Mail to Europe:
14.5Guerche total franking = 2G registration + 2G first 20 grams
weight + 10.5G additional weight. French colonial stamps were used
to pay postage to the outside world. Probably philatelically
franked.
