Italian Mail from Ethiopia

Italian mail was usually hand carried to Eritrea where it was placed into the Italian mail service.


March 4, 1904 Asmara cancel to Turni, Italy.

July 30, 1908 Adi Caie (Eritrea) cancel. August 14, 1908 Piacenza receiver. Forwarded to San Pellegrino.
August 15, 1908 Borgo Dan Donnino transit. August 16, 1908 San Pellegrino receiver.
15 Centesimi franking.
Cover is part of the Marazzani correspondence. The Italian Mission in Ethiopia was located in Wollo-Gallia Province. Mail was likely hand carried to Adi Caie where it was posted.
While most of the Marazzani correspondence originated in Dessie, a few pieces are known from other Ethiopian towns.

December 2, 1915 Adi Ugri (Eritrea) cancel. Colonia Eritrea Censura No.1 censor marking in black.
